LITTLE DANCE CONFERENCE 28 th June – 09 th July 2009

It is a proposition for children ages 7 – 12. Workshops are a part of the Annual International Contemporary Dance Conference and Performance Festival. During two weeks children will learn different dance techniques from the SDT dancers and invited guests. Both, the first and the second week will be completed with dance performances presented in front of the building of the Silesian Dance Theatre.

Classes leaders:
MATSUDA TAKAKO (JAPAN)

AGNIESZKA JAŚKOWSKA (POLAND)
Dancer and co-author of choreographies for MASKA group, which has been performing ‘hip-hop’ and ‘new style’ for 12 years. Winner in the local and international competitions (Polish Champion in the Electric-Boogie category, 2003); together with Ewa Bielak they have been multiple winners in the competitions Wirująca Strefa i Rytm Ulicy, in the ‘New Style Duo’ category. Currently she is a student of the II year at The State Theatre School in Cracow, specializing in Dance Theatre Actor (in Bytom). Non-standard solutions and individual standard are what she values the most about dance.

MAGDALENA GÓRNICKA (POLAND)
Born in 1985 in Zabrze. Graduated at Royal Conservatory in Antwerp, Department Contemporary Dance. She participated in the Educational Project ”Creating the Programme, Methodological and Organisational Bases for the Foundation of the First Modern Dance College in Poland” organised by the Silesian Dance Theatre. She attended the State Post-Secondary Vocational Vocal and Ballet School in Gliwice for two years. Since 2008 co-producer of ,,Lampekap Collective” Antwerpen-an art group busy with creating multimedia performances. She worked as Johannes Wieland assistant during ,,…und raus bist du” project in Staatstheater Kassel, Germany and in the end of 2009 as a Stage Manager during European tour of Johannes Wieland New York Dance Company. She danced in the ,, Kunst op Kameras” Performance Choreographed by Eric Reaves during festival in de Rijp,Holland. In the spring 2010 she danced in ,,Oude Liefde”-performance created by Wim Mertens and danced on the ,,Parcours d’Artistes ” in Brussel, Belgium.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
The classes during the Little Dance Conference are aimed at the development of the consciousness of the body by its young participants by way of improvisation. The classes will concentrate on the creative use of space, work with one’s own body and discovering the pleasure that dance can give. The workshops will be amazing trip it to the world of children’s imaginations and a lesson of constructive group work.
